    Product Packaging

The thermometer gun came packaged in a plastic clam-shell case with the features and the directions for use printed on a cardboard insert.

Size of Product and Product Properties

The gun measures almost 6 inches long and 3 inches wide and is made of lightweight plastic. The feel of the plastic is soft on the grip. It takes a 9 volt battery which is easily inserted inside the grip cover.

    Ease of Use

The temperature gun was pretty easy to use. Once the battery is inserted, you simply aim at the object you wish to determine the temperature, depress the trigger button once to turn it on, and then press and hold the trigger to get a temperature reading on the screen. The gun has 3 buttons which allow you to:
    • toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit
    • turn the laser light on and off
    • turn the back light on and off

    Results

First I used the temperature gun to see if my granddaughter had a fever (which she did not). The gun reading was about 2 degrees Fahrenheit lower than her actual temperature which is within the advertised range of accuracy.

Next, I checked the temperature of a pot of boiling potatoes. The temperature varied somewhat but I wasn't able to determine whether the gun was reading the temperature of the water or that of the potatoes. Since the pot had just begun to boil it's possible that the potatoes were at a lower temperature at that point than the water. You can watch the test in the video below.

In conclusion, this gun is good for someone who is looking for an inexpensive, easy to operate thermometer which will give them the approximate temperature of an object or area.
